Student Review

On 1 September 2009 the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, Dermot Ahern TD published a consultation paper to review the Immigration Regime for Full Time Non-EEA Students.

The document was open to Public Consultation and stakeholders were invited to make submissions on the recommendations outlined. The deadline for making submissions was 9 October 2009.  As indicated in the Consultation Paper the Minister for Justice , Equality and Law Reform has constituted an Interdepartmental Committee to evaluate the submissions received with a view to bringing final recommendations to Government.

In this regard the recommendations as set out in the Consultation Paper in relation to a new immigration Regime for Non-EEA Students remain under discussion and the particular provisions set out in the Consultation Paper are not yet in force. In that regard the current rules in relation to Non-EEA Students still apply.

It is the responsibility of all non-EEA students to keep their permission to be in the State current at all times.
