Notice: Commencement of the International Protection Act 2015
The 2015 Act replaces the current sequential asylum application system with a single application process, bringing Ireland into line with the processing arrangements of all other EU Member States.

You can apply for protection if you cannot return to your home country because you fear persecution.
To claim asylum you must be in Ireland and submit an application.
Your application may be granted or refused. If it is refused, in some cases you can submit an appeal.
While your application is reviewed, you'll be given a safe place to stay and access to basic services.
