Renew Stamp 1 based on Atypical Working Scheme

To remain in Ireland after your current stamp 1 expires, you must extend your immigration permission by applying to the Atypical Working Scheme Division by letter.

IMPORTANT: From 11 December 2017 the previous registration certificate (GNIB card) has been replaced by the new Irish Residence Permit (IRP).

Check your expiry date

The expiry date for your current immigration permission & registration is shown in your passport and on your registration certificate, ie Irish Residence Permit (IRP) or GNIB card.

To remain in Ireland, you must extend your immigration permission by writing to the Atypical Working Scheme Division before your current stamp 1 expires.

If your application is successful, you must then visit a registration office in-person to renew your registration.

Read a summary of the registration renewal process.

If you do not renew in time, future applications could be affected by gaps in your immigration record. In some circumstances, you may have to leave the country.
