Getting Ireland Brexit Ready
Brexit presents unprecedented challenges for Ireland given our close relationship with the United Kingdom.
Ireland is getting ready for all possible scenarios and extensive work is taking place across Government and its agencies.
As part of our commitment to helping Ireland get Brexit ready, and to reduce its effect as much as possible, the Department of Justice and Equality has been working with stakeholders to identify issues that may affect our sector post-Brexit.
If a withdrawal agreement between the UK and the EU is reached, a transitional period will allow current arrangements to remain in place until the future relationship between the UK and EU is agreed.
The information provided here addresses the situations that will arise in the event of the UK leaving the EU without a negotiated agreement (a no deal Brexit).
