The Tánaiste and Minister for Justice and Equality, Frances Fitzgerald TD, has welcomed the outcome of the ballot of members of the Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors on the recommendation of the Labour Court.
The Tánaiste said:
“I welcome the decision by AGSI members to accept the independent recommendation of the Labour Court which sought to address the concerns that have been articulated in relation to their pay and conditions, the pay and conditions of new recruits, and their access to the statutory dispute resolution bodies.
“Nobody wanted to see industrial action and I believe today’s decision is one which is in the best interests of An Garda Síochána and the community they serve so well.
“As I said yesterday my Department and I now look forward to working with all of the Garda representative associations towards progressing access to the statutory dispute resolution bodies and their engagement with the Public Service Pay Commission.
“I want to again express my thanks to all involved in the negotiations that resulted in this positive outcome.”
